According to the statistics from 2009 in the Augustów Municipality there are:
7 primary schools – 508 students
2 junior schools – 275 students
7 kindergarten groups – 86 children
4 kindergarten groups for 61 children at the age of 3-5
Primary schools have received patron’s names, have got memorial chambers and school banners.

Primary schools of Augustów region are active and take part in many projects and programmes financed by European Union. So far they have taken part in:
- ‘Academy of Tomorrow’
- ‘Small Archimedes’
- ‘Equal Start’
- ‘Equal Chances’
- ‘Common rooms as places of equal chances’, etc.

Thanks to the European Social Fund and Rural Development Foundation Country Kindergarten Clubs were created in the area of the Augustów Municipality. The project was directed to kindergarten groups of children at the age of 3-5. The aim of the project was to diminish inequality in spreading country kindergarten education. ‘Give a chance for the Augustów Municipality kindergarteners’ is the name of the project which is a kind of continuation of the previous one.
Thanks to realization of the projects, 25% of the Augustów Municipality children were provided with kindergarten education. European Funds made it possible to modernize or build multifunctional school sports fields.
